BEVEL, a NYC-based jewelry line specializing in fine hand crafted jewelry produced locally is launching their first collection, Ball Game, this month.
In Ball Game, each piece is available in three states of being: Modern, Classic, and Sacrificed. Modern is mirror-finished and smooth with an architectural futuristic appeal. Classic is modeled on the textures of aged and weathered Mayan temples. Sacrificed is dark and distressed with a highly textured blackened surface. The Ball Game collection consists of necklaces, ear cuffs, earrings, rings and bracelets made form .925 Sterling Silver, semi-precious stones, ebony, and gold.

Ball Game is inspired by the mythology of the Mayas of Central America, specifically the legend of the Hero Twins, recorded in the Quiche document Popol Vuh. Their story is the oldest Mayan creation myth to have been preserved in its entirety.
BEV•EL [bev-uh l] / noun, verb : to meet at an angle other than a right angle, or the slant thus formed. The philosopher Joseph Campbell wrote that there are only two myths – the
hero’s quest, and the hero’s journey home. Each of us makes his/her way in the world and the journey home is how we reconcile our deeds with our personal values – what we accomplish vs. who we want to be. Where those two meet forms a bevel in each of our lives.
